I'm swapping out my tired 6 cyl for a sbc(350) and I purchased the V8 gas linkage from one of the classic chevy truck part vendors. If anyone has made this conversion any tips on where to set the bracket before I install the motor would be helpful.

Ive done 2 of them that way. You line it up so the pedal shaft goes through the original hole. The kit is not nessesarily assembled like it goes. It seems I had to take it apart & assemble the parts to work right.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

If you got it from the Truck Shop it will not work unless you modify the accelerator lever bracket. If you have a FAX number I can FAX you the page from the truck instruction manual that shows this assembly.

really pretty straight forward - the bracket goes on the engine side of the firewall where there should already be 2 holes to mount it, the pedal rod w/ the ball on the end goes [toward the bottom] thru the existing hole to hook to the pedal, the threaded rod goes [from the top] straight forward to the carb linkage - hold it in place and you'll see if the rods need to be moved to the opposite sides as wrenchbender points out - like such [shoulda looked at my pics b4 I wrote that] grin
