The stock 235 linkage arm now appears to be too long, and will no let the Carters bottom out for a better idle. I've seen an aftermarket stainless linkage arm on e-bay this week. Is this worth the $65 they are asking? Anybody have one? Does it actually fit properly up and inbetween the manifold and exaust headers? Anybody have issues like this? suggestions? http://s537.photobucket.com/albums/...=BnSt7rBGkKGrHqIOKjIEtkoKdqeuBLi7rQO.jpg | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | I do not know what is at the top end of your rod, but I have used this rod with a dual-carb set-up. It bends easily and has the right diameter for connection to the bell-crank on the side of the block. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 111 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 111 | yea, same top end as my rod. If there's no other way (that's what bell-cranks are for) it has to be really thick or throttle operation will just re-bend or unbend it.
will no let the Carters bottom out? Does it over-travel (still have available motion after full throttle)? Yes: lengthen the rod. No: the rod isn't the problem, the ratio of rod travel to throttle shaft rotation is wrong.

Its not letting my carbs bottom out for idle. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | I've used a bent rod of the same diameter with single and dual carbs for many decades (since I changed to a 261 in 1971).
