71chevy straight shift to automatic questions....

I have a c10 short bed with a straight shift & 350 engine. I want to change over to automatic and would like to see a picture of the chassis differences.
1. do I use the same crossmember but move it?
2.will I need a new bellhousing?
3.will I need a different driveshaft?
4. any suggestions as to type of tranny?

You will have to cut out the crossmember for the stick & use an automatic crossmember(I have one for sale grin )

The automatic has the bell housing built on.
3.will I need a different driveshaft?
Most likely unless you happen to get the tansmission and drive shaft from a truck of the same lenght.
4. any suggestions as to type of tranny?
You could run a 350 turbo, 400 turbo, 700R4 or later model overdrive transmission
