A machine shop was getting ready to trash to the crusher 2 engines they say are 230 and 240 1930's chevrolet engines.I've got them now.Where in the heck can I go to get info on these?Help again.Thanks Sid Stephenson

Last Pontiac L6 is 239, earlier is 208, 223.
All pre-1940 Chevy is 216 and smaller.
1939 GMC: 228, 236, 248.

Oldsmobile used a 230 six from 1937-1940, I believe.
Here is a nice pic of the 37' Olds 230. There is more info on the engine in this
37' brochure if this is your engine.

1/2 ton 1937 GMC pickup also used the Olds 230 six.

folks the casting #s on the ? 230 are 83610-2 .It is said that this came out of a 1934 or 35 truck.The block side cover carries these letters and numbers: xt4782.Where do I go now to look for this block # and history for it and where it was used? Thanks,Sid
