Guys, I have a 62 c30 and I've been doing some reading, on the 60-66 year the c10 and c20, they can swap the front crossmember from 1973-1987 to gain the disk brake setup.

Need some brain storming, could we possibly do the same thing on the c30? providing the 73-87 donor truck is one ton as well (3500 series?)

I've seen a '61 C30 taken apart and the front suspension did not look any different than any of the lighter ones I've seen.

I don't believe the swap is quite as simple when converting from torsion bar, but it can be done.

Torsion or no torsion that would be the question.

Let me start by saying I haven't done my swap yet.
I have a 61 C30 panel truck.
I bought a 67 C20 drum brake crossmember assembly.
(actually I have the entire front half of a C20 pickup frame so I know where the steering box and idler arm go.)
The torsion bars go away if you swap in a more modern front suspension and then the torsion bar crossmember can go too.
The 3/4 and 1 tons have a more normal looking ladder frame, no X member. Makes it simpler to work on I think.
