I have a 1952 GMC truck that I purchased from a guy 5 years ago. It has Washington state papers. I have all the papers that got it into British Columbia and would like to register the truck in BC. How can I do this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hy sb52gmc, if you have all the paper work, and the truck has never been registered in British Columbia, then the truck MUST PASS a SAFETY INSPECTION. That means it must be virtually ready for the road, hope that helps.

As 3B said, take it to a garage that is a designated inspection garage (Don't take it to the place that was in the news recently!)If it passes, you have one year to take it to an Autoplan broker to register it. Take all the paper work, bill of sale etc. with you. It also has to pass Aircare in order to get insurance.

I do have all the paper work just wasn't sure what was required.
I assume then it needs the typical ICBC inspection that it meets the code as it came from the factory.
It sounds simple enough everyone keeps telling me it is almost impossible.

If you have paperwork from the US no problem just get it to pass a BC inspection and its a go at ICBC. If you have a US truck with no paper work DO NOT TELL THEM ITS A US TRUCK! get a friend to give you a bill of sale and apply for a BC applied VIN. tell them you dont know where it came from and start from scratch with an inspection and its all good with a new BC vin number. I think its easyer than a title search and is faster. I do it with scratch built sreet rods all the time. Oh, and try to find a honest inspection station that knows classics and rods so you dont get the run-around

Be careful with title search outfits. There are a bunch of California hot rod owners looking to have their cars seized because they used a title transfer company which supplied bogus titles. Check the latest Street Rodder for more on this.
