Hey guys-

1956 235 with short-shaft after-market water pump and special pulley, going into a 1953 3100 with radiator in original stock position.

Is there a "preferred" fan style that provides adequate clearance to both the balancer and radiator yet provides decent airflow? I was thinking of using a later V-8 engine fan, along the lines of that shown in this link:

Does anybody have experience with this style fan? Does it fit, and how effective is the fan?

Thanks, -Warren (squarenutz)

In my 1 ton with the 235, stock radiator, and short water pump shaft the only fan I could find to fit is the original 216 fan, and even then it just fit, almost hit the crank pulley and hardly enough room to change the belt on the front. Had a fan break on a road trip, took a few hours to track down a replacement again, all I could find to fit was another 216 fan.

If I ever need a new water pump I'll use a water pump adapter plate which is a better deal all the way around.

You should look into the adapter.

related question...what fan would you use for a 46 1/2 ton w/ stock rad position and a 261 w/ short water pump and adapter plate?

i know there are lots of differences between the AD's and art decos but would the fans be the same for this application???
