im getting ready to look at a rear that i might be able to use. the rear is a 41 one ton eaton ten bolt and has GM4 3682126 stamped in it someplace from what i was told. i looked in the mpb and i didnt see it listed not to say i scanned past it. i didnt even see a one ton section in the 41 maint manuel

Mike, that number comes up in the Chevrolet parts book. Casting number 3682126 =group no 5.505 p/n 3682125 but I can't take it any farther. I will look for my oldest Hollander. Maybe it will go back that far.

Mike, I found an old Hollander. It doesn't list a 1 ton Chev, but it does list GMC. 1 ton GMC used the same rear end from 41 to 48. They came in 4.12, 4.86, and 6.67. The same third member shows to fit a 40-47 Ford and a 48-52 Ford. The fact that it interchanges with Ford leads me to believe that this would have been an Eaton.

I would have to check to be 100% sure about the years, but I know that there are a few points during the late '30s/early '40s that Chevrolet did not build a 1 ton truck, other than a "1 ton Special Panel", which was more af a downgraded (sigle wheels/no overloads) 1 1/2 ton. Along those same time points, GMC did not build a 1/2 ton truck, as GMC didn't build "light pickups". That was not counting the "1/2 ton Special Delivery (Buick type).

Bill, you are 100% correct....
in 1941 the 1 ton is a downgraded 1 1/2 ton (wheelbase 134 1/2").

as 1946-50 All Comm (exc. 1/2 ton)

after going to look at the unit i found it had 8 lugs. i need 6 lugs. im looking to find a one ton rear that has the third member to change out the ring and pinion and will acomodate duallys. as of now i have a split timlin rear and a ring and pinon change cant be done on the timkin. i know there is a rear out there somewhere from a cc and ec gmc model years.
