There was no 3/4 panel in 1949.
There was a 1/2 ton panel and a 1 ton panel in 1949.

Will it just bolt right on? No. Will it look right with the wider wheelbase? Probably not. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 4 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 4 | Just have to ask...What in your opinion would be a good enging and frame to start with knowing that I would like it to be a 4wheel drive once swapped? | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | A lot of people are using S-10 frames. Try a search of the site for S-10. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 33 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 33 | You might try this post on the Jalopy Journal website... www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274702&highlight=10I believe the best frame for a '49 panel is the original frame. Both my '51 pickup and my '49 half ton panel have the original frames with Nova clips... But with 4WD, an S-10 is probably the way to go...
