First off I'm capable of figuring this out but it was wet, cold and dark last night so I bailed on fixing it.

The sit-chew-ation: 1951 chevy 1/2 ton 235, generator, 12 volt blah blah. Over past two weeks been smelling that smell, yeah you know the one. Thought I found it, the clamp on heater switch had become a common grnd. (I think) becuase I'm too lazy to add adequate ground straps...so shoot me. I unhooked it and let it dangle, no more smell...what a redneck (me). Yesterday driving I notice my gas guage is on empty SOME EFFR' stole my gas and my horn quit working...boy that's some dastardly work (haha). Now brain kicks in and note that voltmeter indicates we are not charging as usual. Ruh Roh.

I stupidly stopped at the hardware store for lightbulbs and had to push her down a hill to jump start. The only good news was that some beefy looking gal jumped out of her car and pushes running along hair flying "get in give er hell". Only in America boys I tell you smile

Get home, it's deader than a doornail and I'm done.

Soooo, here is the game. One guess per customer. I'll post the answer once I get off my dead arse to fix it.

Good luck

Humm, you smell a problem for two weeks, wait till gauges go south, charging system isn't working, but you shut the truck off hoping it will restart.

Problem- The driver of this truck has not implemented proper PM on truck and chooses to wait till truck quits before resolving problem.
