Howdy!
Just bought a '52 Chevy pickup yesterday on my lunch break. Got home last night and registered here. Looking forward to some tinkerin' on the ol' girl.
I'm not exactly sure what model it is as it's been changed around a bit. It's currently got a "dually" rear end under it and the frame has been sloppily extended a couple feet out the back. Appears to have had a tilt flat bed or perhaps a dump on it at some point too.
A bit about me...This truck is officially the oldest vehicle I've ever owned...By one year. It beats my current car by 10 though ('62 Ford Falcon 2 door wagon). I spent years as an autobody tech and painter and have built a few cars for myself. My number one love is bicycles though. Mostly vintage roadbikes but I enjoy MTB's too. Especially if there is mud involved hence my name...
Anyways...I'm sure I'll have tons of questions. I'll search the forums to find the basics before I ask a bunch of dumb ones.

You can't "always" tell by the doors as several year interchange. 1952 came out with the wing vent window AND push button door handles. That is what most folks notice first.
There is no such thing around here as a dumb question. We all had/have to learn. So, let us know how we can help. Your right about using the search feature. Usually it will turn up hours of reading but don't be shy. Jump right in here and I'm sure your expertise in body work will be welcome in the Paint and Body forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I popped the hood today and found the engine to be free. I was able to rotate it by hand so that's a good sign. The guts under the cap look fresh too and the oil level was full but looked kinda murky. I'm hoping it doesn't have oil in the water...Looks like it's probably a replacement motor maybe a 235...I'll check numbers and figure that out soon. Confirmed that it's a 3 speed and found that I have no brake pressure.
To do list:
)Verify engine size and year.
)Change the oil and fill up the radiator.
)Drop a battery in her and let her rip after popping the valve cover for a quick dowse in light oil and a cursory inspection.
)Give the brakes a thorough inspection. I'll probably just go ahead and do a full rebuild and swap in a dual reservoir master cylinder just for the sake of safety.

P.S. I'll try to snap some pics this weekend...It's at my new place which I haven't moved into yet. Wish I could at least wash the poor girl first...Not like it would make much difference!
