I mean is...can you take the frame off one w/broken glass and use a non-framed window in the metal frame. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 337 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 337 | From what I've read the framed windows were originally plate glass and the non-framed windows were tempered. If you check the catalogs that sell side glass, they appear to be the same size glass with or without the frame, so the frame should fit the non-framed glass.
The problem would be if you want to use a framed window in a non-framed door, or the other way around. The window channels in the door need to match the type of window being used. The nice part about the framed windows (being plate glass), is you can always go to a local glass shop and have a new window cut. I've done this several times in the past and was really inexpensive. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 426 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 426 | ok. Thanks. I like the look of the framed windows, but I also like the tempered glass. Cant the window channel just be swapped out? I would think the door hardware would be the same other than that | | |
