For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 12 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 12 | I have a 65 chevy C10 with a three speed shifter column and the steering wheel has quite a bit of play side to side. Also when I use the turn indicator arm the whole collar turs with it? Is there something that should keep the collar from moving so far? Does anyone have a diagram of the layout for the 3 speed column? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 116 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 116 | I believe there is a diagram of the 3 speed column on the LMC trucks site ( www.lmctrucks.com ). It should be helpful in your search . Is the play in the column itself or in the suspension components ? Have someone turn the steering wheel while you watch the steering shaft under the hood . Then get under the truck and have them turn the wheel back and forth . See if there is any noticeable looseness in any of the components ( idler arm , drag link , etc. ). This may help to figure out the problem . Good luck !

I actually fashioned a bushing out of one of the parts that came when i ordered the lower bearing. this new bushing fit into the bottom of the lower collar centering the shaft. I am going for a 100% factory restoration; this however was unacceptable. the new bushing is awesome. | | |
