I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Archie...beautiful truck! It caught my eye for a few reasons...I used to hang out in St. Charles and I am in the die cast business. I manufacture a lot of the Texaco nostalgic die cast - trucks and the Wings of Texaco programs...now Chevron / Texaco. I have a place in Lanark Il. and will keep an eye out for your next car show in Edgerton...about 90 miles from here. I'll bring my '51! great nostalgic truck!!!

Hi Bob,
My last years as a Texaco dealer were '84-85 before their pull-out of the Mid-west,after the demise of Delora and Lester Norris, St. Charles natives who owned half of Texaco. Those 2 years Texaco used Chicago and some other markets for the testing of the Ertl truck/banks. To my surprise in about 2000, I saw the Mack truck ('85 series) for sale in Stillwater for $700 and I thought the decimal was miss-placed. The value was confirmed on eBay, along with a $1400 value on the '84 series Model T. This apparently is based on the very low production numbers for test marketing. The value has gone down some with economy, but certainly a good story for your product. I still have a few NIB from my station, should have sold when the price was higher...LOL. Thanks for your email, and I will be working on the GABfest for July 24 & 25.
