I'd like to switch the starter from a foot pedal to a key operated one on my 54 chevy truck. Still running the original 235. I was thinkin that maybe there was a "retro" fit on the market?
Thanks

60-62 235 trucks had the key start or starter and key sw from that era car will do it - not sure if the ring gears are different, but a search here should turn something up, it's been discussed

If your truck is still 6 volt the starter from a 1949-54 passenger car will fit right on. You will have to change the ignition switch to one with a start position or use a push button.

Ther is a diference between the 6 volt and 12 volt fly wheels. If you use the six volt key starter on 12 volt you need to use a 12 volt solinoid.
