For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 71 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 71 | Hi There,
I am new to truck tinkering and am the proud owner of a 1954 Chevy 3100 truck. The engine in the truck was shot, so I purchased a good motor from a 1955 Chevy car.
I am looking for advice on the best way to mount the car engine to my truck. The truck engine mounts are on the front, but the car engine mounts are on the side. Is it better to use the current engine mounts and fit them to my truck or drill through the motor and make the car engine fit the truck mounts? Is there a better way?!
I appreciate the help.

If so the lip should be on the mount plate where the truck mount holes should be. Just drill some holes and make them square with a file. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 71 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 71 | Thanks for the replies...the car engine is a '55, 235. I will check out the links about drilling some holes.
Cheers,

Is there a lot involved with that? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 90 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 90 | 58 car was first side mount engine up to 57 6cyl had center front mount car and truck. 55 to 57 had 2 front mounts set at an angle on V8's. Been awhile since I really messed with alot of this on a regular basis but pretty sure I'm remembering correctly.
Also if I remember correctly 55 was first year for angled bell housing mounts. Vs' 54 back straight mounts.

It's your choice, but if you don't want to tear into the engine that much, drilling the two holes and making them square would do it, as Cletis said. Samantha | | |
