| | | | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 204 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 204 | Pulled the engine on the 53, and found the lower cross member (under the bell housing) looks like it had a section cut out, maybe to stop a crack. Would the consensus be to look for a replacement or have the body guy weld it up? If replace, got any suggestions on how to determine it is good from far away?

Someone had attempted to weld it up, but neglected to straighten the rail first. I ended up fish plating the frame. If the rest of the frame and rivets look solid I'd repair the cross member. | | |
