I found a 5 lug rearend out of a 60 to 62 1/2 ton pickup. It has the 3:73 ratio. Will a 4speed tyranny from a 66 that is behind a 250 match up to my 235? I also have a tranny from 64 that has a 230 motor. The one behind the 250 has been rebuilt.
What kind of highway speed can I expect with that setup?
I also have access to a 6 lug Adelaide but he is not sure of the deadens ratio on it. ( same years)

Do you mean 6 lug? Chev used 6 lug on 1/2 tons up 1970.

He said 5 lug so not sure. All he deals in is 60 thru 66 and he said it is a factory rearend. I would rather stick with 6 so as not to have to buy new wheels but not sure yet wanting to open up the rear end and get a little better speed with out breaking the bank and keeping the engine rpms down

Factory 5-lug started in '71. Either he is confused or that's not a '60 to '62 factory axle.

The 6-lug coil sprung axles up until '70 should be good options for you.

The two transmissions you mention should be the same, both SM420's. If one is something different its because someone has done some swapping.

I don't know the ratios available in those rears but someplace like Randy's Ring and Pinion will give you both a listing of available ratios and a calculator to determine speed.
