Once again, I need to tap into your' encyclopedic knowledge for information that can't be had anywhere else.

I'd like to find front seat(s) for my '47. However, I need to know which years are proper for the '47 AD panel. I have a '62 drivers seat, but I don't think it would be correct.

kd, place an ad in the "SWAP MEET" under parts wanted. and remember "NO ADVERTISING" except in the "SWAP MEET".

Lets try to answer your question.
If it is a AD then all seats through 54 should be correct.
Being it is a panel the passenger side may not have flipped so a bench seat from a truck will work?
Good luck trying to find a split one though,they also bring big bucks.
Do as Tony suggests and post in the swap meet.

I just wanted to make sure I buy a seat from the right time period. I've already had some responses, and now I know they would be factory correct for my '47. I'm not suggesting that a Stovebolter would mislead me for profit, just that they might not be aware of these minute bits of trivia. Of course I didn't want to spend a lot of money, only to find out I bought the wrong seat(s).

I also saw some suburban seats in the gallery with pleats, and others that were smooth, with piping. (I have attempted to sort my endless questions out on my own.) Was that a year model change, or a difference between the Suburban, and the more utilitarian panel? Possibly the pleats were custom?

Pleated seats did not come from the factory in Chevrolet trucks during Advance-Design years (1947 through 1955-1st).

As you most likely know, the Panel seats are distinctly different from the Suburban (and standard cab) seats. The Panel passenger seat was an option. Leather upholstery was an option in 1947.
