Does anyone make those metal stips that long? I've seen them for regular 8' pick-up boxes, but not for the 12' one ton size. First thing I'd do is try to determine who made the bed and if they are still in business.
If you can't located the manufacturer, next thing to try would be to identify someone local to you that makes/sells beds for farm trucks and see if they have an answer.
Since the bed is not real likely to be a GM product odds are good you can find something that will work without worrying about originality.

I'm going to be in the same boat here shortly with my 12' flatbed.

I don't see these long bed strips as a problem...
