I dropped my 14V 1/2" Hitachi cordless and it only works in reverse now. Aside from the case being cracked, I think the fwd/rev switch is broke. Anyways, I saw Menards had a 19V cordless drill half off for $12.99, so I figured wtf. I added a 2nd year of warranty for $4.00 and must say it works well, the bits were crap and the keyless chuck takes two hands, but so far its able to drive the screws like the Hitachi could.

Today, I talked to local Hitachi parts people and the switch is $43, and the side covers are $30. A Guy on Ebay has new ones with charger and 2 batteries for $99

On the schematic of the Menards drill, the switch looks very similar to the one in the Hitachi. Might try a transplant one day.

Try EreplacementParts. They may have the parts you need for a good price. I've used them quite a bit for parts to fix my tools.

i hate the fact that a lot of replacement parts cost almost as much as the new item. either someone is really loosing money on that new item or..... i checked into buying a milwaukee cord, the kind that plugs into the sawsall or drill motor, and it was actually cheaper to buy a used drill motor and just use the cord than buy a new cord.

I looked at EreplacementParts. They have the parts and I would save about $7 and tax before shipping. Thanks for the tip. The cheap drill got a test today driving 3" construction screws and it worked just fine. I chucked up a wire brush in the Hitachi and almost stirred some paint with it, so even with just reverse it'
s handy. Maybe I'll get some left handed drill bits.

I was tempted to copy the list of parts into Excel and add them up, but I didn't.
