This may be a stupid question but here goes. Are the original sunvisors adjustable width wise? I'm contemplating one for my Suburban and saw in one of the parts catalogs that they had an adjustable one. I do not want a new one but have never come across an original. Thanks

If you're referring to the Fulton type visor they were adjustable to accommodate numerous vehicles. This may give you some insight.

Brian.

It will depend on which look you want. The Fulton style with the side braces or the 3 pc car one that attaches to the drip rails.
I used the car style on my shop truck.( see my photobucket)
The car style is easier to come by and cheeper. But I like them both.

Good info on Fulton Tiny, do the Fultons have a part number on them then somewhere? I know a guy who has a visor but I've never looked at it to see what brand. He was gonna use it on his '50 AD but it wouldn't fit. I wonder if he just didn't know it was adjustable so then I can add it to my '48 burb

I don't know where the part number would be. The main thing you need to watch for is not buying a visor that needs a center support when you don't have a split windshield. Other than that the visor should fit about anything.

Brian,

Does your truck have a two piece windshield? The reason i ask is, i'm looking for a sunvisor for my '37 Chevy PU. As you know it's one piece crankout.

The Fulton sunvisors do have a model number but the number may not be stamped on the sunvisor. I bought an NOS Fulton sunvisor, for my 1954 3100 pick up, that was still in the original box - the cardboard so old you could easily crumple it in your hand. The Fulton label on the box was for Model 1000. Model 1000 fits 54 and 55 first Chevy trucks and 53 and 54 Chevy cars - all one piece windshields. I did not see the model number on the visor. The visor is adjustable because the center section, hidden from view when assembled, has several rows of holes for different widths. Chevrolet did offer a GM factory sunvisor in 1954 that is not adjustable and looks more like a 1955 Chevy truck sunvisor - not adjustable. The Chevrolet sunvisors are rare and can be seen in one of the original factory brochures for optional equipment.

Your 52 burb would be a two piece windshield requiring a center support from the visor to the windshield. I am sure Fulton has a model number for the visor but sorry I do not know the number for 47 -53. Follow sunvisors for sale on ebay for a while to learn model information and possibly find a visor to buy. Start your search with 1952 Chevy sunvisor or Fulton sunvisor and go from there. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I need to update my profile. The 1952 Burb is gone (too rusty so I just sold it) and I bought a '48 from Oklahoma but it has same windshield as a '52.

briank, You can check out the sunvisor on My 52...I had a
fulton visor but after holding it in place I decided on not
using it..The truck has rounded fenders, roof, and hood, so I used a passenger car visor that fit a split windshield, then I modified it to fit My truck, including caulking in the peak to match the roof...I also cut off about 2 inches off the top of visor and eliminated the top s/s molding...It was a bit of work, but I obtained the appearance I felt it needed....
