can't I just use my original clutch and pressure plate from my 235 with the 3 speed when installing my t-5?

You can use the pressure plate but the disc has different splines. You can get a disc made up at a clutch shop or there is a place listed in the tech tips in Springfield, Mo. that makes them. You can use one for an Astro van or Camero but they just sell complete kits anymore.

you can still get a disc separately. the counterperson more than likely isn't bright enough to look it up or to lazy; one or the other

You might check on a clutch disc for an 83/84 Firebird...that's the one I'm running in my 235/T5 truck. Also have run an RCF-4201. These are 9-7/8" discs. They both will have the proper spline count and neither had to be modified. These are for an S10 T5...the Camaro uses a different input shaft with a different spline count.

Just be sure to have the rear of your splines opened up so the disc will slide past (towards the transmission) 1/4-3/8" before you install the disc/pressure plate. Astro van clutch disc for the 4.3. Years are 1985 - 1989

Hey thanks for the tips guys, Dave the pictures were very helpful. I thought I understood what to do concerning the cutting and grinding of the splines but I just didn't trust myself . anyone who is considering this should take a look at Daves pictures.

Or simply use a Camaro front half and S-10 rear housing and shift cover (Hybrid). The splines are longer, the bearing retainer is shorter, and the pilot is shorter.

the 11"clutch disc that I purchased and installed was a fenco CP31078 and that was for an astro van

You've just got to match the clutch disc to the pressure plate and bolt holes in your existing flywheel. I was a bit skeptical about using the 9-7/8 clutch disc in my 54 truck but it matched up with my pressure plate/flywheel bolt pattern and after 10K highway miles it's as smooth as the day I put it in.

Just a note....the Camaro input shaft has a different spline count than the S10 input shaft and if you're building up a hybrid to run behind a 235, you might have to hunt a little to match up the disc/pressure plate with the correct 235 flywheel.

Dave, only the V8 trans has the 26 spline x 1 5/32 input shaft. The V6 and 4 cylinder transmissions all have the same 14 x 1 input shaft. If your running a ford trans, the early ones have the 10 x 1 1/8 spline and the later have the 26 x 1 5/32 spline.
Jeep has yet another spline.

Correct...just wanted to make sure that anyone considering running a hybrid T5 be aware that they might run into some problems locating a 26 spline (9 7/8") disc to bolt to a 216-235 139 tooth 6v flywheel with a 10" pressure plate bolt pattern.

The Jeep boxes have 10 splines on the input shaft.

The 26 spline 9 7/8" disc would be from a 1996 or newer V6 camaro

any 14 spline 10 3/4 clutch that you can purchase over the counter without being custom made

1982-84 Blazer 2.8 V6 9 11/16" disc #CD4201, should work fine in a 10 3/4" set-up.

why go with the 9 11/16" when you can use the Astro Van at the right diameter.
