I got mine in the mail today and i noticed the exterior of it you could see some of the casting, where there appears to be voids. I expected it to be completely smooth and shining. Is this not the case with offy's? Did i get a bad one. You have to buff it up yourself or have a shop do it. Don't know what to tell you about the casting voids you see.

| | | | | Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 784 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 784 | One thing to look at on these valve covers, be it Offy or Waynes (I have a Waynes) is the lip where it contacts the gasket. Make sure it's flat. I had to have mine flattened to get it not to leak.
Set it on a flat surface and check it with a feeler gage. If you do this first it will save you the frustration of taking it off and fixing a leaky valve cover.

I have the buffing equipment so I did a little work on it but not a super shine. You can see it in the link below.
Incidentally I bought it from Patrick's who has always treated me especially well. Fine people and a super Inliner
