OK all you stovebolt goorues, I hope I don't stump you on this one....
This was mounted to the firewall of a 1950 3100 chevy truck. It was not hooked up to anything, but It looks to me like some kind of pump for the wipers or the wash on the wipers. The motor had DELCO APPLIANCES NY USA stamped on it where the pump and the motor coupled together with a 6 pt type of shaft and the pump was marked TRICO and a list of patent #s and reg.#s hope you can see from the pics that the motor has 3 wires and the pump has 2 barbed hose ends for vacuume or wash soap? Almost sure the motor is 6v(not tried it yet)was this something dealer installed or what? I didn't know of wash nozzels on the front of the truck hood or cowl vent? Whatcha think?

It is a vacuum pump. I have one on my 40 dodge, does it work?

Havent tried the motor yet.
Do I hook the hose from the wiper pump or do I unhook the dash pump and use this?

The dash unit is the wiper motor and it is runs on vacuum. My old dog don't run yet but both are hooked up. manifold to pump, pump to wiper motor so the unit in question acts like pump vacuum booster. The motor on it looks like the heater motors so you can probably replace it with a 12V unit.

That pump is easily replaceable with a 12v wiper motor, i tossed the one in my 54, but it looks like you have a deluxe model or something, mine was shaped like a semi-circle and didn't have any wires. I'd just plug the manifold port where it attatched with a threaded brass fitting from the hardware store.

In the factory manuals it is referred to as a Vacuum Pump Booster part# 2233295 with a VAC marked switch like the heater switch. It is listed in the GMC manual for 47-53 parts in section number 23.3787 pg 450. It was a factory option to keep the wipers working under load condition when they normally stop.

This motor has a recessed hole to accept the 6 point shaft, my Heater motor has a extended shaft for the blower cage to go on.
Can I just use a voltage 12/6 reducer if I plan to use it?
Also I still need the motor/pump under the dash?
This is better than a vacuume can by far!

Unless I am mistaken, that is not the wiper motor you have there it is a vacuum booster to assist the vacuum operated wiper motor under the dash. You will need both unless you want to toss them at me and buy the high dollar 12v wiper motor from one of the vendors. I would guess that Chevrolet 3100 threw away his wiper motor so he may be needing one or bought the aftermarket electric unit.

That sounds mity inviting, but I kinda like a little of the 'ol school stuff left on my truck, if I can get it to working.lol
If so it probrobally will work better and longer than todays stuff.
