I think this is some of the info you want...

c l5 4 5 j 128417

C = 2 wheel drive
15 = 1/2 ton long bed 127 wheelbase
4 = Pickup
5 = year=1965
j = assembly plant = J = Janesville

128417 = s. number

You can get this info just about anywhere. This is what I got out of the fist couple of pages of my LMC catalog.

I hope this is what you wanted and what you were looking for.. God Bless...

I double checked the code in my source book, I come up with the same information as Micheal. I'm going to venture a guess, and say thit your truck may not have the original cab on it. I'm not sure if they still stamped the serial number on the chassis on the '60 and later trucks like they did with the '55-'59s, but it may be worth looking to see if it has one on it. Unfortunatly, the serial number will not tell you what bed the truck originally had.

There should be a metal tag at the top of the inner door opening on the driver's side . At least , there is on my '65 C10 .There are also numbers on the top of the frame just forward of the motor mount on the driver's side .
