The fastest way to tell a 235 from the 261 is the 261 would have the "captain's bars" on the block behind the distributor and above the starter. If they're not there it's probably a 235. Jim Carter states that it was standard after 1958 on 2-ton and larger trucks? I'll check a 1960 Truck Data Book later this evening to see on what sized trucks it was optional. This series of CASTING NUMBERS can be used to determine the engine year of manufacture and the original engine displacement. My guess, based solely on the pictures is a 235 CI, year unknown.

That number is cast on the back of the block on the pasenger side, just behind the starter.
What does the Gross Vehicle Weight plate say? 6000 series with the 18000# GVW used the 261 as standard equipment.
