Hi...

Last weekend, I started my truck up (as I do every weekend) and was greeted by an overflowing carburetor.

I tore it down this morning, and the only thing that I can think of that would make the carb overflow like that would be a bad float.

Well, the float still does its thing, and there doesn't seem to be anything in it (i.e. gas) and the bowl was still full of gas (as I expected it would be).

So, my fellow bolters, allow me to ask of you:

What the heck?

What else would cause an overflow like that, and how do I fix it?

Brendan,

I agree w/ TooMany2count....check your needle valve. My '61 did something similar before I had my carb rebuilt. Good luck. -Will

Okay.

Thanks guys.

While I've got the carb cracked open, I might as well get a rebuild kit. It probably needs it anyway.

Also, I'll probably install a fuel filter. Just because I don't want this to happen too often. grin

Thanks for all your help, everyone!

I got the old girl running again tonight.

I made sure that all of the passages were free of crap and I figured that while I had it apart, I may as well rebuild it.

I gotta say, she certainly runs better! (Starts quicker too!)
