What kind of primer is heat resistant that I can get? What type of engine paint have you guys used? Is the rattle-can type a good plan? I appreciate your help.

I was very pleased with the results. There is a link to my webpage with a couple of pictures of the result on the thread about "Show off your engines."

Since your block is a rough casting, apply two coats (min) of the enamel. If you're painting the sheet metal covers, prime them.
