A hydraulic press would be the best way. A little heat shouldn't hurt it.

I had to drill mine out. It was a very scary process as my skills in that kind of a process are limited. In the end I didn't affect the bore walls at all and it ended on a happy note!

Heat it up with a torch or even a propane torch if You have one and take Your time heat it up good and hot than give it a good hit with a hammer if that does not work than You may have to grind the thread side down so it's flush and drill it out just start out with a small bit and move up a little at a time when You get close to the size I take and try heating up again and use a punch with a flat tip to try hitting it out again after drilling most bolts come out just take Your time she's been in there a LONG time .

If you beat on it you probably swelled it up. When that happens, I grind the bolt off so it is flush with the beam eye, apply some head and hit it with a punch about the same size threads were. I have also had luck with an air chisel with a flat punch bit. Between the heat and the rattling of the air chisel I have always managed to get the pins out.

Yep thats what i did. Drilled until there was only about a 16th of a inch left then used a punch.

Be careful when re-installing them as one side of the axle's hole is bigger than the other

well, i got it out with a little heat and beat. i was even able to salvage the threads with a die. but now, how do you get the king pin out? i removed the caps, one was very hard to remove/ drill/dig etc, and i beat a socket to death and have nothing to show but a beat socket. mind you, the spindle/knuckle does not move. more heat and beat?

Kingpins can take a lot of force to get out. The best method is to remove the axle and use a press. If you pound them out with a sledge, you can deform them and cause damage to the hole in the axle. Ask me how I know!

i forgot to mention; i'd take it in the house and press it out, but recent surgery says no. so, i'll wedge the axel between two trees and use a lot of jb and that 4' pipesuasion

and....i got all my motor stuff back, in the house, and the block's on the stand. but i can't take a chance by lifting the crank and go'in ta town

Alot of heat , even than they can act like they are glued in , I had to change king pins in My 79 3/4 ton Ford van one side came out like butter the outher side would not move I took it to freinds shop and He had a screw press that We put on the axel and than heated it up and with the help of a 3/4 impact tool and a good smack with a BIG hammer got it to move try putting pressure on it and heating it up HOT with the pressure on it if You could give it a smack she might give it up .

finally! we pressed it out at the shop. and i see why my little 10ton mini-press didn't work - it took 12-15ton to get them to break loose. i sure wouldn't want to have to try to get them out while still on the vehicle
