For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 83 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 83 | I just got a 57 GMC Panel! A long time desire indeed! It has the origial running gear, 6 cyl. I have the Original air cleaner, there is a voltage regulator, a generator that looks just like the ones in the show truck pictures I have seen. It's problems are; the front fenders lower aft corners are bad, the bottom of both doors are bad, the sheet metal around the upper door hinges has rusted through, the window guides are all shot, the one seat (driver's) has no covering and the back came free of the seat. It was a delivery truck so there is only one seat, no arm rest on right side door. The lower sheet metal at the pinch weld from aft of the doors is rusted through on both sides all the way back to the bumper. Rear doors seem to be in good shape. I will be going through the brakes and electrical systems. I have a blaster and paint equipment, I do not know if the engine runs. Any input on how to proceed would be appreciated. I am a former Retired USAF bodypaint mech. currently working for the navy as a painter/blaster

I was hoping SOMEBODY would know where I could find a patch panel for that area! I also have my eye on a fine 57 flatbed; but that has to await funding....

This section is more about questions on the panel or suburban regarding their function. If you are looking for parts, post an ad in the swap meet section. There is an ad right now in the parts for sale section regarding patch panels for your panel.

We/I have discussed the many ways to address the areas you mention. All of the TF panel and Suburbans are rusted somewhere down there. The doors and forward areas all have aftermarket repair panels avail. Get familiar with LMC, Brothers, American Clasic Truck parts, and so on. and Ebay and Craigslist. The panels Gmoniz is speaking of are very reasonably priced!!

I had the same issues with my 1965 Sub. I am interested in installing the disk brake (front and back) kits I have seen on my stock axels. What is the proper forum to address that subject?
