hi,

i'm working on building up a new motor for my '54 3600. i have a '54 block from a passenger car that has hydrolic lifters. i thought the hydrolic lifters would be a good thing. since then i have been told that new lifters are difficult to find. i'm wondering if i should cut my losses before i have the block machined or are there work around or part sources out there?

i just got the news, total cost, from the machine shop on my 235. it was a '61 block, and while in overall good condition, the machine work/cleaning/magf/hardened seats/valves/cam and crank bearings/balancing of crank and rods/gaskets - $1600
a crate eng would be cheaper, but the shop/a friend, guarantees that this rebuild will outlast any crate. the engine had already been rebuilt by a 'crate' type co/had limited mileage, but the crank bearings/clearance was questionable as evidenced by their poor condition/lack of oil flow?
h-lifters on yours, ?. mine are available

A "crate" 235 for less than $1,600?

tc - A "crate" 235 for less than $1,600? i was just guessing. they're much more?

pre - i'd seen those before. is that a decent price for the lifters?
and what would be good cam specs for a daily driver with a tad of pep with duals and headers. howard or ? decent price?
