I am putting a one-ton bed on my project and need to order a new front panel from American classic. The on-line catalog lists two sm147 for early 1951 back and sm236 for late 51 forward. Both parts seem to have the exact same picture in the catalog. I don't know what year mine is. Can someone tell me what the physical difference is between these two front panels?

The beds changed from 9 boards to 8 boards in mid 1951. I'm not sure what that would have to do with the header panel though.
I have a '49 one ton with 9' bed, but I'm not near it right now to take a look.
Check Mar-k's product and see if you find the same thing. They make their own in house.

What year is your bed? Is it 8 board or 9 board?

Yep, as the front bed panel on the 1-ton attaches differently to the wood than the 1/2 and 3/4 ton. Mar-K has 10% off right now and free shipping with $8.95 handling charge. Very happy with the one they sent me.
