Maybe someone with a newer Master Parts Book will post more information. Is there a "P" forged on the number 5 arm? I may need one also | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 124 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 124 | thanks for the link. i didnt know that was on the website.
i dont have the old crankshaft so no way to tell if there was a "P" on it.
to be clear, it is a powerglide, hydrolic lifter engine. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | The 29-57 MPB at the link above shows the 53 Powerglide (only) 235 (high pressure) crankshaft as the same as the 54-57 235 crankshaft.

i wonder what the differences are.
i was hoping the cranks would be more universal. this will likely make tracking one down more time consuming. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | One of the differences (I think) is that the 53 Powerglide 235 crank and the 54-62 235 cranks are drilled to supply oil to the insert rod-bearings.

I had a lot of trouble locating a good price. Local NAPA was not bad. Patricks beat everyone, just decode the year of your 235 block and he can help you. Egge did not have one. By the time I calculated machine shop services plus the cost to secure a used one, you will be within $40.00 or so of a new one. Hope this helps ya!
