They will not fit an earlier head without major modification.
For the earlier heads there are two styles, passenger and truck, or manual and auto trans. The difference being one will not clear the 'Z' bar and the other will.

The original intake manifold is bolted to the exhaust manifold to heat the fuel for this side-draft configuration. The single barrel carb would not function properly without the heat, so I removed the headers and it works much better. Just a thought for consideration before you invest the money...

Stovebolt makes a box to bolt under the intake where the exhaust bolted. The box is then plumbed into the cooling system to provide heat to the intake.
