The front mount is the hard one to find parts for the only piece in reproduction is the rubber. The early trucks had horsepower ranges form 90-135 by the time you get to 261's and torque in the 180-200 ranges so they do the job.

The 2 on the flywheel housing keep the the engine from torquing and the front kept the engine down in front. They were never a problem. The second series in 55 used a strap for a motor mount in front and they broke. I am building a 302 GMC with a 3-2 setup and dual point distributor for a 50 GMC and I will use the stock mount. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 69 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 69 | ok. thanks. it just seems so odd to me bacause im used to modern trucks and front wheel drive cars with trans axles.
