Hello there. I have a question on this motor I have been given. The code that is in the side of the block says LAQ 330326. If I am looking at this right this is a 1953 235 motor out of a car with power glide trany. Is this correct? Aslo I would like to put this motor in a 1953 Chevy 3/4 ton truck with a 2 speed power glide trany, Will this work? I can not have a stick do to no left leg. Thank you for any help.

According to my Chevy Inline 6 reference guide, the LAQ ID does indicate that this was originally in a 53 Belair hooked up to a powerglide. I believe that you can install this engine with a powerglide into your truck, however since the original rear mounting for the engine was to the clutch bellhousing, you will need to fabricate or purchase another rear mounting set-up. Not terribly up on this part but some of the other members have done this or something similar and they will chime in with more info.

The real question will be weather or not it'll bolt up to the torque tube for a truck. I personally am not sure about that, but others may know. However, I would like to throw out this suggestion. Rather than run the 'Glide, which only has 2 gears and no overdrive, you may want to consider doing an open driveline swap (covered extensively, try doing a search for info), then using the later style automatic trans adapter for Langdons. This will let you use the 700R4 trans, which gets you not only a better first gear, but also an overdrive. This will make the truck much more capable on the highway, plus more enjoyable to drive in town. Another advantage to going with an open drive, better gear selection, which again, makes the truck more enjoyable to drive.

Hy RJ's 53Chevy, if you're going for an automatic why not go with a Hyrdramatic, they were available in trucks, just my opinion, I love those trannies!
