thanks guys,
I have a delco-remy alternator with 4 terminals: a big terminal "bat",another "grd" . In the center top a little window with two terminals: left "R" and right"F".
The regulator have 4 terminals: IGN, FLD, ARM and BAT in top right.
PLEASE, how to connect them?
The alternator was revised and it is ok, the regulator is new.

I don't have a lot of experience on alternator conversions, but I did convert to an alternator also. The alternator I'm using has an internal regulator, so you no longer need the stock regulator. My understanding is that most alternators have internal regulators. Classic Parts (Chevy Duty), sells a conversion harness with connection directions that is pretty simple to install. Also you can do a search on this forum, I got lots of great information and links from a couple of threads about this conversion.

I would get a Delco 10SI,which is an alt. with the regulator built in and you won't have to worry about hooking up an external reg.
A 10SI would be like what came on a 76, 77,78,chevy. Then things would be simpler for you.

If you choose to use the external regulator setup, I believe one of the wires to the regulator needs to have a resistor wired in series with it, or the engine will continue to run when the ignition is turned off. It's been a long time since I've done one of those conversions, but I seem to remember that the idiot light circuit will back up enough current to bypass the ignition switch if it's used with an ammeter instead of a "no charge" light. The internal regulator unit works a lot better.

alfonso,

While I'm certainly not an expert, your regulator terminal ID's don't fit the usual numbering for the proper unit. The typical regulator for use with the alternator is commonly numbered F-2-3-4.

Could you have the wrong voltage regulator? I have linked a picture that shows typical wiring for that 10DN alternator and it companion regulator.

As was mentioned above, you could switch to a 10SI or newer alternator for probably less than the cost of your old alternator and new regulator, and be done with the potential headaches that sometimes accompany the firewall mounted regulator...just a thought!

Alfie - Stuart is correct, the reg should be numbered,if you've got the larger rectangular regulator labeled as you say sounds like you have a reg for a generator system - I put a freebie alternator with ext reg on my 58, looks like so, no idiot lite, don't recall any resistor or resistance wire, been working fine for ages

Thanks guys, Stuart and Bill are right, I don´t have the right one.
I´m going to follow the Stuart advise and buy one like the 10SI.
