I am restoring a 38 chevy pu and want to keep the stock front suspension but I want to install a power steering box/unit that would fit with original steering column or an aftermarket steering column. Has anyone done this before? Any info would appreciated. Thanks

If you don't come up with anything, go to a 41-46 Chevy truck steering box/column. It will bolt in and be much easer then the original box.

Good luck with the search.

Thanks Joe H. Is the 41-46 alot easier to turn? The non power steering would not be a big deal with me personnally but I am restoring the truck for my 80 year old father in law who lives in Las Vegas. So a power steering unit would be nice along with AC, Automatic, etc.

I suggest you talk to ABS, they are on Lemon St. near the Orange traffic circle. They do a lot of these conversions and also sell the parts. I installed a Toyota unit in my 56 and have done other TF trucks and Fords but not sure what will work in a 38.

The 41-46 box has a slightly different turning ratio and roller balls inside so it does turn easer. Its no power steering, but much easer then stock.
