Dose anyone know on the hubcaps for 61 to 63 did they change the clip cap to the non clip in mid 62 or on the 63 year at production start? and by the way I am looking for some of either

the OEM rins were the same from 58-62 (3 clips that held on hubcapor did the design go back even futher?) to the type that had 3 bumps on the raised part to hold on different HC.

I'm pretty sure in 61 they changed the caps to the ones without clips, which were held on by bumps on the rim. I have a set from my 61 that I don't need anymore, but they've been repainted at one point, and arent very nice.

61 was a changeover year. I believe that 3/4 ton wheels still used clips, and half ton 4x2 and 4x4's used nub type wheels to take a standard hubcap. So there are several types of 1961 hub caps available. Old school type for clip wheels, standard type for nub wheels, special 4x4 front axle type hub caps, 3/4 ton hubcaps and then pick your flavor-chrome or painted. The Corvair trucks used the same hubcaps on their 14" wheels as well.

Well ,heres the problem, I have a partial set of clip and a partial set of nub hubcaps but they are the same cap.

The clip rims are harder to find. I'll be painting my set next month. I'll have a complete set (5) of nub rims and a complete set (5) of the chrome snap on caps.

I'm hoping to trade them for a set of clip caps for the 1955-1960 model. If you can't find what you need "PM" and maybe we can trade something?

I think there might be a bit of confusion on the style of caps that GMC used. This cap was the 55-59 model hub cap.

The lower leftmost chorme cap was the factory cap that came with the 1960 model year. They offered both Chrome and Painted styles. I understand that GMC did not design a new cap for the 1960 model year roll out. You can see the same caps on the new ad's for the early years. As seen in this ad. NOte they show both Chrome and white painted hub caps.

GMC did actually design a different cap for 1960 it looks very similar to the 58/59 but they took the ribs off the cap and is a very rare 1 year cap, if you look in the 60-66gmcguy page ther is a fully restored 1960 red GMC and you can see the caps on it

That truck is Arthur Throckmorton's and without a doubt one of the most perfect restored versions of the 1960 GMC at last 99.999% stock. (The GM tissue holder is an option he could not pass up).

Those 1 yr. rims are so rare, that in 8 to 9 I've never seen them on eBay or found one. If you find them you will probally need to have them restored!

I seen 1 1960 gmc hubcap for sale on ebay, I told the guy about it but it sold for like twenty bucks I think
