I AM BUILDING A 1950 PU ON A BUDGET (AM NOT A PURIST) AND AS SUCH AM USING A 1983 STEPSIDE BED (SQUARE TOP)WITH MY ORIGINAL REAR FENDERS. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE CLEARANCE IS BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE FENDERS TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BED RAILS. I KNOW I SHOULD BE USING A BED WITH THE 45 DEGEREE TOP BUT THIS 83 BED WAS A STEAL. ANY HELP??? You will need to redrill some of the holes but you may be aware of this. The bed of my 54 is off at this time and I can measure the hole locations for the fenders this evening and email them to you tomorrow. If the new bed is on the old frame with the rear wheels and tires in place slap up one fender and where it looks good mark the fender holes. Will there be running boards and the splash apron to consider?
