Well I decided to use my old balancer and I'm looking for a sleeve for my 216 damper. I've been to a half dozen auto parts stores around here and they don't even know what I'm talking about even when I show them a picture of one and the SKF CR number.
Looked on line for a couple of days now and haven't had any luck there either.
I haven't tried the local bearing supply house, think I'll try there tomorrow.
So where have you guys that have used them found them?????

Give these guys a call. They are very accommodating and either have or can get a lot of odd ball stuff. I think they list 257 part numbers for speedi sleeves. http://www.baumhydraulics.com/home.php

I'm gonna run over to my local Berry Bearing this morning and see if they can order a couple there Ken. Same sorta store as you deal with there.
Thanks Tim, the manufacturers aren't very helpful when it comes to sales so you really have to deal with one of their retail distributors. And those repair sleeves you linked to aren't really SKF "Speedi Sleeve" they are probably just a hunk of conduct from China with Loctite to hold it on. I'd rather stick with the industrial standard like Chicago Rawhide (now SKF).
Fred not down here CarQuest didn't even know what I was talking about when I showed them the picture.
Leon, I'll also stop at the same NAPA I stopped at earlier in the week and see what they have to say about that part number.
Tks, guys

A CR99176 is the Standard version SKF Speedi Sleeve but while I'm at it I figured I'd go with the Gold version which is CR99829.
I'm off to the hunt.

Try Napa Balkamp P/N 600-2016, it fits most Chevy 6 & V-8's, about $8

99829

Is this it, for $99?

Or, is this it for about $35?

99.00 looks right but perhaps some one is getting you to bend over.
the second one sounds like about the right price and desgription doesn't give you much to go by but is more than likely right

Well here is what I found today after hitting a few more spots. NAPA does not stock the Gold “Speedi Sleeve”, they can order it and it has to come out of a warehouse down south somewhere. Ready for the cost, $58.00, no thank you!
Next stop Berry Bearing, yep they can get them but they have to come out of a warehouse down south somewhere. Cost, $48.00, but they do stock the standard sleeve in the local warehouse and can have that in the morning, cost, $31.88. It will be here in the morning.
Now, the $7 and $8 sleeves are not SKF “Speedi Sleeves” but a shell that is glued to the damaged shaft. The actual Speedi Sleeve is a highly precision sleeve that it pulled onto the shaft by the flange at the backside and they are held to very close dimensional tolerance and surface finish.
So, there we have it.
And Tim I don’t know what the deal is with that vendor that’s quite a spread and even at $38 you can be sure there will be a $10 or $12 dollar shipping charge added to any mail order.
That’s done, on to the next project!

Micro sleeve might make one for that enigne. Or a good flaps should be able find one by measurements.

(Microsleeve is the brand name)http://www.microsleeve.com/pdf/MS_Catalog06.pdf

Here is a link and they have an 800 number.

Denny, Auto Zone lists a Timken Kwik Sleeve for the balancer for $17.99. It is listed as special order, but if they have it at the d/c, they should be able to get it to you prety quickly.

All taken care of Bill, thanks anyway. Berry Bearing will have the SKF sleeve in the morning at 8 O'clock.

Finally got tired of chasing all over and just had them order the sleeve.

Some come with the installation tool and some don't. It is more convenient with the tool.

Actually I should expand on that. CarQuest has one without a flange, or tool. You drive it on with until it is flush and then tear the front potion away so the seal gets to ride up on the shaft first. The other design has a flange and a tool that fits down over to drive it on by the flange.

That's cool Denny. If you didn't find it, my local 'Zone actually has a bit better access to the D/C, since it's only about 10 miles from the store. We use them for most of our parts (national commercial account0, and several of the people there are former co-workers of mine, so they would check it for me.

Denny, How about posting some pictures of your sleeve and the install. I'd be interested to see it.
