I've been to a half dozen auto parts stores around here and they don't even know what I'm talking about even when I show them a picture of one and the SKF CR number. Looked on line for a couple of days now and haven't had any luck there either. I haven't tried the local bearing supply house, think I'll try there tomorrow. So where have you guys that have used them found them????? Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

I think they list 257 part numbers for speedi sleeves. http://www.baumhydraulics.com/home.php | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | I found them at CarQuest and NAPA. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 487 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2005 Posts: 487 | How about NAPA# NOS 480177 ?

Same sorta store as you deal with there. Thanks Tim, the manufacturers aren't very helpful when it comes to sales so you really have to deal with one of their retail distributors. And those repair sleeves you linked to aren't really SKF "Speedi Sleeve" they are probably just a hunk of conduct from China with Loctite to hold it on. I'd rather stick with the industrial standard like Chicago Rawhide (now SKF). Fred not down here CarQuest didn't even know what I was talking about when I showed them the picture. Leon, I'll also stop at the same NAPA I stopped at earlier in the week and see what they have to say about that part number. Tks, guys Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

NAPA does not stock the Gold “Speedi Sleeve”, they can order it and it has to come out of a warehouse down south somewhere. Ready for the cost, $58.00, no thank you! Next stop Berry Bearing, yep they can get them but they have to come out of a warehouse down south somewhere. Cost, $48.00, but they do stock the standard sleeve in the local warehouse and can have that in the morning, cost, $31.88. It will be here in the morning. Now, the $7 and $8 sleeves are not SKF “Speedi Sleeves” but a shell that is glued to the damaged shaft. The actual Speedi Sleeve is a highly precision sleeve that it pulled onto the shaft by the flange at the backside and they are held to very close dimensional tolerance and surface finish. So, there we have it. And Tim I don’t know what the deal is with that vendor that’s quite a spread and even at $38 you can be sure there will be a $10 or $12 dollar shipping charge added to any mail order. That’s done, on to the next project! Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

Finally got tired of chasing all over and just had them order the sleeve. DG

It is more convenient with the tool. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | Actually I should expand on that. CarQuest has one without a flange, or tool. You drive it on with until it is flush and then tear the front potion away so the seal gets to ride up on the shaft first. The other design has a flange and a tool that fits down over to drive it on by the flange. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | That's cool Denny. If you didn't find it, my local 'Zone actually has a bit better access to the D/C, since it's only about 10 miles from the store. We use them for most of our parts (national commercial account0, and several of the people there are former co-workers of mine, so they would check it for me.
