For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 48 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 48 | Front hub oil seal, #5756, $35.00 each! And this is at Kragen's.
I find that hard to believe, particularly when new brake shoes were only $25.00.
I know prices are nuts, but $35.00 for a seal?
A more reasonably priced alternate source would be much appreciated.

Shop around, theres something wrong there. The little chiselhead "parts tech" behind the counter isnt pushing the right button. Did you tell them theres no air conditioning, and its a 2 door? | | | | | | ZooKeeper Unregistered | | ZooKeeper Unregistered | I don't know but that price may be in line. I pulled up AutoCrap(Zone's) website & they show that seal selling for almost $28.00...joe | | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 48 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 48 | Yep, my 57 3600, to fit the hubs I took from a 58 38 series.
I'm hoping the poster on the Tons 'O Fun thread is right, NAPA NOS20669, $17.00 ea.
I will know on Monday! If correct, NAPA is HALF the price of the "Home of the low price guarantee". 1957 Chevy 3600At these prices I want my gas 100 octane, leaded, and my windshield washed! | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | I agree go to the NAPA web sight and get the part no's that You need they have a good easy sight to find Your parts also other FLAP's can cross referance there no's.

There is quite a difference in prices for seals. Then add shipping and the cost can get crazy. I pulled the size and PN of an online site and bought mine at a local bearing store. They were still 22 or 23 dollars each. But less than the vendor sites. These seals were used on many GM larger cars and all of the 1/2 ton trucks of the time, so I would think they would be less expensive. There were two brands available, but only one in stock. Of course it was the expensive one. There were CR seals, made in the USA. The other brand, I don't remember, but it was a know brand name. They were about 15 dollars each.
I looked long and hard for the 5 dollar seal, that they should be. They just are not out there. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | If Timken or BCA/National #5756 is what you need, check Rockauot.com. Their prices are about $8 and $12, respectively.
TIMKEN Part # 5756 Category: Wheel Seal $8.31

If you go to a later design lip seal they are much cheaper to buy. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 48 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 48 | NAPA will have them for me in the morning, thanks for the help, this site works better than Google. 1957 Chevy 3600At these prices I want my gas 100 octane, leaded, and my windshield washed! | | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 48 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 48 | Spent all day Sunday getting it back together.
NAPA seals, new shoes.
Finally got to drive my 57 3600 a little!
Now I just have to fix the exhaust and change out the intake and carb. Then rewire it, replace the windshield, little things. ;-) 1957 Chevy 3600At these prices I want my gas 100 octane, leaded, and my windshield washed! | | |
