But just today I threw it reverse to park it in its daily spot and I heard something drop......oh no. I look under the truck and see a huge chunk of metal lying under it, bleeding. It seems that the tranny case split. I can see all of the guts inside. It has the original 230 straight 6. What tranny will fit this truck and does anyone have one?? I have the original 4 speed out of my 63 C-10 or you can usually find a three speed if you have a column shift...something will probably appear in the swap meet section soon if there's not something there already. If you want to go with something later look for a T5 from an S-10 donor vehicle. | | |

The T-5 will bolt up with a few minor modifications. You don't have to replace the driveshaft, but it would have to be cut to the required length and the yoke would need to be replaced to fit the new tranny. If you use the search function for this page you'll come up with a lot of info or check Inliners International or 5speeds.com . I'm sure that there are other resources out there as well that I can't remember off the top of my head. | | |

If you decide to do the T-5 swap let me know and I'll try to remeber what all I did and pass it on...that's the rule on this site...if you have knowledge you have to pass it on...keeps all the old 'bolts rollin'. | | |
