A 53 fivewindow. The truck was painted recently, dark maroon, and the paint seems to chip easy when hard contact is made, not enough to dent the metal, but enough to cause a chip in the paint. Could this be too much hardener in the paint or a bad seal job. The paint looks great, no runs or visible flaws. I don't know anything about paint but if it is a bad seal would that make it hard to paint over the truck again. Would it have to be taken back down to metal?

If it is mainly on edges thats usualy poor prep work, ie. neglecting to detail sand the edges..as the old rule goes" the harder it is to sand the more important it is to sand it!" as that is ALWAYS where it will chip or peel! If it is chipping after contact in the center of panels then that is poor adhesion; possibly from poor prep or wrong combinations used in reducers, hardeners or incorrect application of the paint or undercoats. I just got thru helping one of our mechanics redo his truck with the same problem, in that case it had too much paint on it ( single stage black plus clear )

It appears to have primer underneath, not bear metal.
