Is there any info on rebuilding the wheel cylinders for these old beasts (1.5T), anywhere to get the seals or warn parts? I was hoping to find a link to someone who has rebuilt one of theses set ups with some pictures?

Mo. could probably help with parts or new cylinders. Most of the time the cylinders can be fixed if carefully taken apart cleaned and honed. Resist the urge to beat the pistons with a hammer they can be removed with hydraulic from a grease gun with no damage to the pistons spring or cylinder. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | If you do apply force to the pistons, make sure to do it around the diameter, not the center. You can punch a hole right through the piston in the centre.
The wheel cylinders are pretty simple but the star adjuster cap is unique. It may take some soaking and/or alttle heat to get them off. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 186 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 186 | Hy CORPO, my confusilator has been caput for four days, can you give me the letter designations for your truck, should be R?, also you could put this question in the big bolts section. Great i have heard of them, havent looked to much into it.. thanks for the hint with the grease gun If you do apply force to the pistons, make sure to do it around the diameter, not the center. Ill make sure to avoid force, as far as the star adjuster goes, everything seems to be in pretty good shape, there is still close to a quarter of an inch on the shoes.... heres a couple pics if anyone wants to look brakes and backer plates http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo291/mack1416/IMG_0968.jpgdrum http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo291/mack1416/IMG_0937.jpg | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | Wow, those brakes don't look a whole lot different than the ones on my 1951 1 Ton. I guess GM liked the design! | | | | | Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 29 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 29 | Well, it looks like its been a while.
