I got 36 chevy 1/2 ton given to me he says it all there. Are there any manuals or sites on how to put sheet metal,steering or just everthing back together any help would be great.

You know, I've done two. They are a very simple machine. Not near as complex as the 56' gmc I'm doing now, especially if you keep it original. You would probably start w/ owners man., parts man. and shop manual, they all have some illustrations and instructions. This site or VCCA will help too. Mark

also check the publications refs here, there's a number of good general books about restoring old GM trucks, might find some of them at your local book store too

Zeke, there are several guys with 36 trucks on this site-- so asking questions will get you some help. Is yours a "high top"- first series or "low cab"- second series? There are some significant differences--

Zeke, you are in luck- the low cab has several improvements-- the biggest is hydraulic brakes. the cab only has 3 pieces of wood in it vs many in the tall cab. There is 1 piece in each of the "A" pillars and one cross piece behind the dash. There is a guy in Va. who makes kits but they are expensive. I'll try to identify some books for you-- remind me if I don't get back to you next week.
