I have a 1956 Chevy with a 235 and 3 speed, column shift, stock rearend. Has anyone connected a 700R trans to a 235; and if so, was it difficult?

It's another one of those deals that just takes time and money.

i investigated the expense and it was beyond what i wanted to put into the truck at this time. i already have an open rearend and i was still going to spend around 2500.00, so i put a s-10 t-5 trans in for about 800.00 and i like to drive a stick anyway. the auto was to accomadate my wife now ex-wife who couldn't drive a stick also for my son if he inherited the truck, he can drive a stick but prefers autos. the 700r4 is a good choice btw. ron
