Just received a few items for my 52 chevy. But don't know the right way to install it.

1st.
Just received the rear fender bolts kit (Clutch head). The kit is coming with flat washers and locknuts. Just want to make sure on which side should I put the flat washer. On the bed side or on the fender side. I don't how was the original look (was trying to find pics but couldn't find any)

2nd.
Just bought the front licence plate holder. (was not coming with mounting hardware and cannot find anything on catalogue. Wehre is the proper way to mount it.

As always, thanks for your advice.

Peioa...The washers go to the fender side.
Only the bolt heads are visible inside the bed.

The licence plate holder goes on the RH side of the splash apron.
Mine had two captive nuts welded below the apron.
As far as I know, they were factory.... I would double check for you but mine went out with the trash!

Peioa,

No stock rear apron was standard or a GM accessory/option. However, I think that Patrick's has made a rear apron that looks "period correct" (not listed on his website; but, if you are interested, you might want to give him a call.

Here are some other rear aprons:

66-081 - Classic Parts of America

SM322 - Jim Carter

One last question (for the moment...) I have a small block chevy 350 in my 52 chevy and would like to put new headers. Now by just looking at it, I know I'm going to have some clearance issues. The steering column is a couple inches away from the headers and the firewall is really close too.

I'm sure I saw a post on that subject but I can't find it anymore. Does anybody know which headers will clear my steering column and my firewall (both stock) ?

Thanks for your time and infos.

Peioa....There are quite a few 'variables' as the 52 obviously didn't come from the factory with the V8.....

Have you got any pics?

I'm having 'clearance issues' with mine just now,but that could be due to a lack of foresite on my behalf.

I'm just working with what came with my engine.

There are several types of headers available.First thing ya gotta do is to do the measuring, then go to a good speed shop, and see what headers they have in stock. On a 1937 Chevy car that I streetrodded, with a 350.I used the S_10 conversion headers which worked out quite well. They exit to the rear. Then on my 55 pickup with a 350 I used a nice set of blockhugger headers which exit straight down.Anytime you put a later model engine in one of these older vehicles, you are gonna have clearance problems, but with the headers available today there is always an easy solution.

The header question needs to be posted in the HIPO forum.
